As a new link, both partners are continuing to discuss the focus for their projects. For now, they aim to focus on health links by sending the Cardiff project leader and a specialist Welsh HIV/AIDS nurse to the community in Ghana to do some basic training on malaria and HIV as requested by the local community. They will spend the rest of their time discussing health priorities in the community and training/resources needed – a mobile clinic has been suggested but this will be discussed in a series of local meetings.
The group have organised some exciting events: a coffee morning on 8th November at the Mansion House
and a treeplanting ceremony to commemorate World Aids Day on 1sr December
followed by a GALA DINNER to raise funds for Daily Hope.
The link has a very enthusiastic committee in Wales and is led by Sil Chaguma who is organising various fundraising and education events, including a flower arranging workshop for memebrs of her local community.
Most recently the Welsh partners have raised funds to pay for new uniforms for the orphans they sponsor - shown here, with their guardians.
